Image Title:
Nymph Creek II

Photographer's Notes:
Nymph Creek runs along the Norris to
    Mammoth Road in Yellowstone National
Park.  The natural spring water is very hot
and acidic! Some algae that have adapted to
survive in the low pH and high temperatures
carpet the bottom of the creek bed with an
amazing green mat.  Cyanidium is the green
algae that blankets the stream bed.

The colors you see in this image were not
saturated in the slightest - what you see are
the natural colors of Nymph Creek flowing
    through a lodgepole pine forest.
