Photographer's Notes:
    Black Pool, a very deep hot spring in the
    West Thumb Geyser Basin of Yellowstone
    National Park.  During winter months the
    single-celled organisms that make up the
    colors of the bacterial mats can change
    colors, adapting to the cooler ambient
    temperature.  What you see here might not
    look the same if you visit this pool during the
    warmer months of summer.
