decay but at a much slower pace due to the arid conditions. I found this natural "footprint" design in the trunk of this tree many years ago while hiking off-trail in Yellowstone's Northern Range. It fascinated me! I originally photographed it in slide format, but went back in Autumn of 2007 to shoot it again in digital.
