Turtle Driftwood
Upper Kintla Lake, Glacier Nat'l Park, Montana

Photographer's Notes:
While watching an amazing sunset in the heart
    of Glacier National Park's backcountry - I
looked down on the pebble beach of Upper
Kintla Lake to find this wooden "turtle".
Amazingly enough, it was not carved by human
hand, just the natural wood grain being shaped
and broken-down by countless seasons of cold
alpine waters pushing it against the rocks of the
    lake edge.

This was one of many pictures taken during a
74.5 mile traverse through the backcountry trails
of Glacier in late August of 2007.

Be on the lookout for wonderful natural designs
as you wander the woods - you might be
pleasantly surprised at what you find!
