West Thumb Moonrise, Yellowstone NP, WY

Photographer's Notes:
On this night, the full moon rose over the recently snow-peaked Absaroka Mountain
Range.  The night of the full moon holds deep meaning for many - it goes by many a
different name too!  To the Colonial Americans it was the Harvest Moon; for the
Cherokee it was called the Nut Moon; for the Celts it was known as the Singing
Moon; for the Dakota Souix it was the Moon When The Calves Grow Hair.  All of
these have specific meanings for those that named them...
For me, every full moon is a delight!  Especially when you see it rise in a beautiful
natural setting (like the bubbling geyser basin known as West Thumb in Yellowstone).
