This particular badger was curious with my wanderings about the Lamar Buffalo Ranch. It is unknown how many badgers are found in Yellowstone National Park, but they are not few and far between. During winter months the badger slows down its activity and goes into a period of torpor (slows down metabolism and heart rate). They will wake and dig through the snow and frozen earth in search of mice and voles as well as sleeping ground squirrels. This image is currently available in multiple sizes.
